Hi there. I'm Becca Hawk.
Some things I believe:
Never use more words when fewer will do.
The best ideas aren't found at a desk.
Always make time to play.
I subscribe fully to Ogilvy's theory: "Good copy can’t be written with tongue in cheek, written just for a living. You’ve got to believe in the product."
To write about solar energy, I spent a day in a warehouse helping build solar units. To write for Google apps, I switched from iPhone to Android (to the detriment of all my group texts, sorry fam). After 6 years at REI....I have 5 bikes. And I know way too much about trucks thanks to the 9 transportation brands I support at Amazon—just ask me what a "reefer" is.
I grew up in Michigan, earned my MFA and started my career in Arkansas, got some chops in the Bay Area, and am now hunkered down in Seattle, WA with my dogs, my partner, our slowly-improving house, and our many outdoor toys.
Outside of work, you can find me painting on my iPad, jumping into a lake, riding my Peloton—and sometimes even my 'outdoor Pelotons, as I call 'em—or taking advantage of my AMC A-List status. And playing. Always playing.
Want to know more? Let's grab a beer.
